ISMC SOLAR, Solar pumps are specially designed pumps which run at low/variable frequency and powered by solar
photovoltaic modules. There are two basic types of solar pumps viz. DC and AC pumps. In DC pumps Permanent
Magnet Synchronous DC motor (PMSM-DC) is used whereas in AC pumps a specially designed AC motor which is
compatible to run on Solar power is used. These pumps may be either surface or submersible pumps.
Controller/Inverter is used between solar PV modules and the pump which controls the electrical parameters of the
pump. PV modules are configured in series and parallel connection to suit the electrical requirement of the pump,
which can supply the whole system as a power source by convening the absorbed solar radiation energy to the
electrical energy.
These PV modules are installed on a metal structure. The structure can be either fixed type or tracking type. Tracking
structure follows the Sun path and gives more water output than the fixed structure. The pump driven by solar power
draws water from deep-wells or rivers. The pumped water is then fed into a reservoir or water tank, or connected to
the irrigation system or fountain system directly. All centrifugal pumps, axial-flow pump, mixed-flow pump, and deepwell pump can be utilized.
